mum's birthday...

well...i'm still at the parents house for the next few days visiting...and so far we've had a really great time...dami has been on his best behavior...mum and i went to the yarn shop today...i picked up some yarn to knit the mrs.darcy cardigan...oh and some yummy noro sock yarn...we ate out at stonewood tonight celebrating mum's 60th birthday...tomorrow i'm off to the gun range with the boys...ricky wants me to shoot his 50cal and psl...i'm dying to shoot my guns...i haven't shot in awhile so it should be good times...surely we will hit up the key's and the hob nob on wednesday...not to worry...i'll take lots of pictures...but unfortunately i won't be able to post them until i'm back home...

as for what's on the needles...i'm still working on dad's scarf...only a few rows left...grandma's embossed leave socks...plus helping mum's knit her 1st great grand baby a sweater...and on vinyl it's danzig's mother...

boxing day...

ahhhhhhhhh...this will be my facial expression as i try to fight off the traffic and find a parking spot at the mall...why you ask...for the sales silly...is it really worth it...i dunno yet...but don't worry i'll let you know...

yesterday we went to kelly's uncle ray bubbles house for christmas dinner and gift exchange...we are always crashing her families events...i love kelly and her family...they are supa kick ass...it always gives the kellster and i time to catch up & hang out...dinner started at 1pm and we didn't leave till around 5:30...then we came home...kicked back...hung out...and finish calling the family to wish them a very merry christmas...

my mum said that christmas felt different this year with dani in new jersey, ricky, dami, and i in jax...and the rest of our family in canada...i must admit...i miss a big christmas with the family as well...we talked about maybe returning home for the holidays next year...i haven't seen my family in years...but then again if ricky reenlists then who knows where we will be stationed...and if he will even be home for the holidays...

ricky, dami, daisy, malulu, and i will be heading over to mum's house saturday night for some family time...5 days with the parents...oh what will we do...i know the boys will be at the gun range shooting the 50cal and the rest of the arsenal...mum and i will be hitting her lys...i'm not sure how much knitting we will get done with damster running around...i'm sure we will hit the beach and i absolutely have to hit that really good burger joint...the hob nob...

other then that...not much new on the home front...so as they say...that's all for now folks...

yet another sock...

i'm knitting up the embossed leaves pattern once again...i'm seriously head over heels in love with this pattern...it knits up so quickly...i received my order of sock yarn from loops last week and decided to use some of it up...my mum said that my grandma would be tickled to receive a pair of socks from me...she used to knit...maybe this will inspire her to knit again...

trip down memory lane...

wow i stumped accross this picture...it was taken a long time ago...it's dani when he was around 4...he's sportin' some hardcore tattoo's...i have to admit...it's one of my favorite pictures of him...i'm sure in a few more years the tattoo's won't be so temporary...he tells me that when he grows up he want's to be just like me...i think i've created a mini male version of myself...i'm not sure yet if that's a good thing or bad thing...only time will tell... ;)

boy does time fly...

wow...another year up and gone...damien's now 2...damn...that went quick...maybe i'll get lucky and he'll skip the terrible part...one can only hope...he had a blast this year eating his ice cream cake...none made it to the floor this year...whoohooo for me...poor daisy for not getting any scraps...he did really well at blowing out the candles...in fact so well they were lit about 5 times so that we could get a picture...we took him to target so that he could pick out one of his own gifts and he chose a...yo gabba gabba muno guitar...it makes lots of noise...all five characters singing 2 songs each...what more could a child ask for...luckily for the rest of us it also has an off button...

stellar...i finished up my mum's socks...i had the chance to run out to my lys yesterday and picked up another skein so that the project could be completed...yes...i ran out of yarn just before i finished...however...lesson well learned on adding an additional pattern row to the leg...and not paying attention to yardage...maybe it's time to start knitting toe up...then it would have never have happened...now on to finishing up my dad's christmas scarf...it's been sleeping for a few months...i'm also going to cast on a pair of socks for my grandma...a former knitter...so i know she will appreciate them...

bringers of good cheer...

i started knitting these up because...my mum was over for thanksgiving and we had a great time while she was visiting...but now she is back home and feeling a little depressed...so i thought maybe she'd cheer up if she were to get a little surprise...so i decided that i'll whip these up and stick them in the mail so that she'll have them for the weekend...i finished the first sock and now on the second... the leaf pattern would look much better in a solid color but i didn't have any in my stash...so variegated it is...

yeah...i know...i'm supposed to finish the hedera before starting another sock...but working on size 1 needles is like knitting at turtle's pace...at least that's the way it feels...but i am going to finish them sometime this week...at least that's what i'm shooting for...

mum's socks...

i started knitting the hedera's for mum...i've finished one sock but i've been dragging ass on the other...actually i really haven't had much knitting time i've been too busy straightening up around the house...rearranging...cleaning...decluttering...ect...however she will be over for thanksgiving so if i put my nose to the grindstone will i finish them or just end up with a bloody nose...well...one shall see...

tutorial on metal bracelet...

okay so i posted this tutorial on cut and paste but i'll also post it here...

1. grab some wire cutters







2. some clothes pins...you will want the ones with the springs closer together...if you have the ones with the wider springs then you won't have to cut them...separate the clothes pins...






3. cut back about an 1/8 of an inch on either side...








4. you will have a space in between...








5. slide into the spring housing...you want to repeat these steps until the length desired...

scarf swap...

well...lj convinced me to join the facebook scarf swap...this is cool cause i've never done a swap before...i guess that means i'm a swap virgin...whooot...whooot...no...but seriously i'm looking forward to knitting for my partner lynn...and it's great that she is on ravelry...kinda gives me a clue as to what she likes...on another note i finally knitted up something for my damn self...i know it's about time...as you can see it's a hat...yeah...yeah...yeah i know it's bright...well just like me*wink*or as a wise woman mentioned it's one of my colours cause i'm a vibrant girl...lj you are the woman!

feelin' froggy...

so i was sitting around the house and i wanted to make something...i know you're probably thinking that because i titled it feelin' froggy...i had a knitting project go wrong...but nope you are wrong...i didn't happen to rip out any of my knitting wip's...

those who know me well know that i'm always recycling...whether it be a starbucks paper bag, old beads, ribbon, metal, ect...believe it or not there is always something around this house to make something out of...well...today the lucky winner was...clothes pins...i took them apart cut them down and made an industrial looking bracelet out of them...i remembered doing this as a child and my dad was not at all impressed...only because he kept loosing all of his damn clothes pins...so i gave this one to dani who is always wanting something new and handmade from his mum...

i'm trying to stay on the ball when it comes to completing projects...i must say i am getting better...especially when it comes to socks...

i finished up dad's cable socks...and no lj you are not seeing double...i believe this would be my 4th completed pair...now on to another pair the monkey's maybe...


i also decided to take another pic of my mil's hat before it went out in the mail...it fits really good...i might just have to make one for myself...

autumn...

chunky newspaper boy hat for my mil...the yarn i happened to pick up the other day while in joann fabrics...i don't get to see the season's change anymore*frown/pout*i miss the sound of the crumpling leaves beneath my feet...the smell of the brisk air...the different colored tree leaves while driving throughout the mountains...just a few things i was thinking about while knitting this up...possibly it was partially due to the color of yarn i chose...well i hope she enjoys it and it keeps her head warm...

dani's 13...

thirteen years ago today i had this cute little guy....and now he's officially a teenager... sheesh...where did the years go? i never would have thought that it would happen so quickly...before i know it he'll be a man...they sure don't stay little for long...

good thing he doesn't read my blog...cause i'm sure he wouldn't like me posting pictures of him without him checking them out first...

hide and seek...

so...i'm trying to stay focused and keep on track with finishing these socks by october 13...my parents will be coming to visit for dani's birthday and i thought that it would be nice for my pops to be able to wear them the next morning when they go to leave...i'm doing pretty good considering all the distractions around here...sometimes i wish i could hide but they'd just end up finding me...i guess that means i have to find better hiding spots...

well...i have stuff on my needles...however...i haven't been able to accomplish much...maybe i'll sit down tonight for a few hours and get something done...my mum was at her lys in georgia and picked up some sock yarn so that i can knit her and my dad some socks so that should arrive in the mail sometime this week...

no knittin' for ewe...

well i haven't done much knitting over the past few days...i've kinda had my hands full...i can't seem to get a break...and when i finally do get some down time...i'm so tired that i just end up in bed sleeping...maybe this weekend will be more productive for me and i'll get something accomplished...maybe i'll finally get to cast something off my needles...and cast on something new...keeping appendages crossed...

well i finally gave in on friday and started my first baby surprise jacket...thanks to lj...it's knitting up pretty quickly...i'm hoping that it will fit cloe...i want to have it finished by monday so that i can send it off as a early x.mas present...maybe if she's lucky i'll knit up some matching booties...or a hat...who knows...

phew...another x.mas gift completed...this is my papi's marsan hat...it was a easy knit...knitted up really quick...took about a day...so far i'd say that i'm doing pretty damn well with keeping on track...now on to the next project...eventually i'll have to break in between and knit something up for myself...i just don't know yet what it will be...

yep...that would be me...i've been slackin...not intentionally...i just haven't had much to write...

ricky go let go from his former employer...the bastards...it's the first time he's been fired...i think he's a little upset/disappointed...he's been filling out applications...filing for unemployment...posting on his regular boards...and hogging the damn 'puter...sheesh...

what's a girl to do? i finished up abuelita's ballet slippers and i'm going to start a hat...for my dad...i'll have to go to the library to print out the pattern...so i probably won't start it until tomorrow or maybe even the weekend...

yuck...yuck...yuck...hopefully i'll start feeling better soon...i've been glued to the couch all day...feeling like shit...dani kiss me goodnight lastnight and told me that he felt sick...i felt fine...but all of a sudden in the middle of the night it began...and i've continued to feel like this all day...

yarn whore...

yesterday i received two skeins in the mail...it's 100% wool yarn...worsted weight 220yards/100 grams...i purchased it from dreamy meow who could resist...it was on sale...and i loved the colors...i'm not sure of what i'm going to do with them just yet...but i'm sure i'll have no problem figuring it out...i finished a apple cozy for dani's teacher...i just have to buy a button and a big apple for it so that i can take a picture of it...now what to work on...hmmm...

this picture is for lj...my big sister in canada...she has a love for sheep... now that i think about it i think that's why she bought me that pillow case years ago...and i mean years ago...i'll have to take a pic of it one day...i've looked for another glass like this for her online but have had no luck yet...i happened to stumble on this find about 5 years ago in the salvation army for cheap i think a buck...it's my sweet tea glass...i have a few things in mind for her for x.mas...but cannot reveal on here...so i'll have to blog about them somewhere else...nahahahaha...

if you know me you'll know that i'm terrible about keeping surprises...i get so excited that i can't keep from talking...i think it's because i hate to be surprised...i'm thinkin' it's a control issue...i'm the worse especially at x.mas...i remember as a child telling my brothers everything they got for x.mas...they hated me for it...as you can see...nothing much has changed...

yupo it's true...i bought more yarn...this one is hand dyed recycled from a sweater 80% wool 20% nylon...purchased from my7kids i'm addicted...i can't stop...i actually have another two skeins coming in the mail sometime soon...with that said...i think i have to leave now to go to a yarn buyers anonymous meeting...

i casted on and finished mum's hat last night...phhhew *wipes brow*...thank god i'm done with her x.mas gifts...well that's not all together true...i still have to find a button...the flower pin was just to take a pic...i started a sock...but not for damien...for a friend of ours who is expecting their first grand daughter...i should be able to finish the other one up today...i'm going to make dani's teachers apple jackets for christmas gifts...hopefully i'll cast that on today...i know that i have time...117 days...13 hours...and 7 minutes.. but i still have alot of people to knit for...i've pretty much been keeping myself as buzzzy as can bee...

okay i took some new pics yesterday after cleaning up the porch...this is dad's reversible cable scarf...i really don't want to give it up...but being that it's for x.mas and all...it's knitting up really quick...i'm only knitting it up between projects...also this morning i cast on for some socks for my little man dami...using only the left over yarn from dani's socks...hopefully i'll finish those tonight...

so i've been telling ricky for a couple of months now that i want one of these bad boys...and he looks at me like i'm on crack...he's always showing me other scooters trying to change my mind...but it's not working...why doesn't he get it...or maybe he finally has...being that he's actually inquiring about where to purchase one and what common problems you usually have with them...i love it...a scooter...what more do i have to say...who wouldn't want this fine machine...
